When it comes to making a positive change, CMUG (Cornwall Mountain United Group) provides a variety of charitable programs and initiatives. We are proud of the work we are doing In Cornwall Mountain and work tirelessly to help as much we can. With your support, we are able to supply resources and reach more of the less fortunate members of the community. We’re looking forward to having you involved.
CMUG believes that young people in Westmoreland can drive their local economies forward through agriculture. We also believe that engaging people in farming, as well as in agriculture, can provide young people, not simply with income, but also with work that is meaningful, respectable, and gratifying. We seek to change the narrative and knowledge around agriculture.
Recently, we started the initiative by supplying 100 chickens, including feed, to a local resident to start up their business enterprise. The profits are to be split on a 60 /40 basis; 60% to the farmer, with a 40% return to CMUG to keep the program running in order to expand the initiative.
So far, it has been a success. We want to continue to see the enterprise scheme expand wider, with more individuals up-taking the scheme. Our only requirement is that the individual provide their own coop for the fowl and commit to the agreement.
